Taking a Pause
Recap: I've lost 20 pounds, with 15 to go by following the habits outlined in Article 16, Lose 3 pounds every week quickly and inexpensively. The summary includes: a low-carb diet, intermittent fasting, and walking or aerobic exercises for 5 to 10-minute sets until reaching a total of 40 to 60 minutes daily.

The plateau
I ran into a problem dieting because two weeks ago, I plateaued at 165 pounds. One reason my weight stayed the same was that I altered my dietary and exercise habits.

Here’s what happened:
First, I committed to low-carb dinners but made the mistake of not considering total caloric intake. I unknowingly ate an extra 1000+ calories daily by consuming a huge hamburger patty loaded with fat.
The good news is that despite eating more calories, my weight stayed the same, demonstrating the benefits of low-carb eating. The downside was that I stopped losing weight.

Second, I changed my exercise habits. While I believe walking is the best way to lose weight, I use a walker. Although I can move quickly with it, I experience backaches a few hours later.

Consequently, I had to identify a better standard exercise in addition to walking that I can do in 10-minute sets, 4 to 6 times a day.

Back on track
After overindulging on a low-carb diet, I decided to study the subject more deeply. Surprisingly, I'm now eating less while feeling comfortably full. The "secret," besides avoiding all carbs except those found in vegetables, is eating once, not twice, a day, with a very satisfying dinner.

Yes, fat is allowed on a low-carb (high-protein) diet plan, but I’m generally avoiding it until I reach my goal of 150 pounds. The result is that veggies and protein without extra fat usually lead to a very satisfying 600 to 700 calorie meal. Don't believe me? Look it up!

The exercise I've adopted combines increased arm swinging with the use of my twister disk, which I discussed in my last article. Since then, I found an excellent video that describes the value of arm swinging when walking around the house. I've combined that with twisting on a twister disk as a very satisfying activity.
